How Social Media gradually destroying us

Back in 2000, internet began to take the world by storm. Like many other children my age, I was quite tech-savy and was the first in the family to learn all sort of tricks that computer can do; while my entire family were trying to figure out which button to press on the keyboard. Before I could get myself on the plane round the globe, I already master 'sight-seeing' on Google. I was also (admittedly) a social media addict.

I remember the very first social media that I used called ‘Friendster’ and then MySpace, Hi5 and subsequently the largest and long-term usage of Facebook. It feels so nostalgic to recall how life picked up from there. My parents were very concern about the fact that social media will ruin my childhood because it is so addictive. I can be on the computer for hours; forgetting to eat, do homework, shower or even sleep! Sometimes, it almost got me to the point of skipping school! Then to make the matter worst; there is also an increasing number of chat-rooms like ICQ, IM, Skype and then Viber, WhatsApp, WeChat and etc. More and more my life is fully involved with computer and 80% goes to social media.

Like most social media addicts around the globe, I found myself browsing posts after posts, pictures after pictures and text after text. It is generally done to keep myself ‘busy’ while waiting at the dentist room, avoid looking awkward being alone or plainly avoid being dragged into a conversation that I dislike conversing. In short to say: social media has taken most of my life away from physical activities. The parents’ fear came true there and then.

Fast forward 20 years later, social media isn’t just a mean of private connection with friends; but it has also become a central hub for global businesses. It is also where the unknowns found fame too. If it is not for social media, our world will develop hundred times slower than where we are today. While we are very excited with the benefits that social media brought into our life, there is still a continuous fear of how it is removing us from advancing with our physical activities/ lifestyle.

Most of us are very proficient in technology; but struggle in life away from devices. We can create various humour with virtual friends but feeling completely awkward/ tongue-tied when it comes to face-to-face talk. We generously donate money virtually; but outwardly, we walked passed a beggar clanging his cup under our nose without dropping a coin/ note to his plead. More and more we are becoming so self-enclosed to the machine, truly selfish with our time and hardly ever expose our experience to physical community.

I remember the days before internet took me over. I was learning how to cook many family dishes handed down from generations, making music on the instruments, serving family and friends with great hospitality skill, playing board games with family members, going to the park and screaming my heart out with excitement. We even had proper face-to-face conversation whereby the world doesn’t even know what we were saying because we don’t have social media to spread it around. We were a lot safer then. Criminal rate was much lower in my younger days. We were free to run everywhere by ourselves without fearing of kidnappers. Our private live weren’t exposed to the public and neither do people know we actually exist until we put ourselves up online.

That being said: my parents’ initially fear has accurately summed up what social media is doing to us today and generally to the world (as well). While devices are getting thinner and smarter by weeks, we human beings are getting fatter and *gulp!* stupider by the day.

To prove the statement right, I find myself facing numerous challenges in transiting back to pre-internet activities. Cooking will be a great starting point for this. I remember my grandmother used to cook just about anything without referring to recipe; but today we need a specific instruction on how to even boil an egg! So much of our creativity exposed online fly out of the window when it comes to reality. We even lost our common sense when it comes to changing a simple light bulb while we hugely bragged about our computer skill to the world.

I am afraid what we will become in the next two decades. Will we be worst than today? I dare not predict or say it; but I just know that at the end of it, I need to get back my life from social media.
It is no longer how many likes and comments I received on my post/ pictures/ text. It is about me finding comfort away from cyberworld. It is about telling myself, “it’s OK to be anonymous. It’s normal to feel the need to isolate from hyper-ness. It’s fine to revert back into pre-internet days and actually go out and connect with people physically close to you. It’s even better to switch off all your devices and start praying for hours, reading books and bibles and pick up some physical skills again. We need to keep ourselves active knowing that there is more to life than social media itself.”

For the past few weeks, I managed to get away from all my devices for few hours at a time. It feels good although I admit having difficulty adjusting to off-screen mode; but it’s getting there. Bible studying has become my go-to whenever I feel tempted to browse on internet. It’s a habit that need revision. There is bible verse memory work, prayer, worshipping and various other skills to strengthen. Life becomes more colourful each time I find myself working hard without needing to publicise all my doings to the world. Sure, it’s nice to share our life with others; but not to the extent of ‘selling’ it to social media anymore.

Today, I am proud to say that I can cook more variety of food than I would have ever imagined or showcase to the world. I read more in a day than I would in a month. I remember more bible verses than I would throughout my 15 years of Christianity life. I pray more than ever before; in fact it has become part of my breathing process. I count my blessing more than my grievance. All these are done at the expense of being away from the devices. I no longer bother about the likes and comments on social media anymore. It doesn’t reflect my life and it cannot lead me to my future. It is just there to re-assure my international friends and family that I am still alive; even though I guess more people doesn’t care about my existence any longer because I am so silent to point of vanishment.

But all in all, life still goes on… Except to try and stay away from social media approximately 90% of the time for breather space. After all, we only have one life to live so we might as well live it to fullest. As for me, I want to spend more time grooming myself in all directions – something that social media cannot help me at all. Of course, I will still pop into the internet for some guidance; but preventing it from taking over my life.

Be thankful that...

... there is food on the table even if it comes from a very low class hawker street food stall. In my opinion, most hawker foods are much cheaper and nicer than the high class restaurants. But people of wealthier zone will resist it wholeheartedly saying it's too filthy and unhygienic. As for me: I clasped my hands together and say a gracious grace to my Heavenly Father for the blessed food. I am thankful there is food on the table. What more can one ask for? It was well-cooked, cheap and nice. My stomach has no complain even when the filthy rich has more to say than a string of noodle in the mouth. For me, it is not the money or the class, it is the heart of gratitude that my Heavenly Father remember to feed me when my body needed food.

... there is roof above your head even if it is a rented, dangerous place. I once came from a rented place whereby I used to share room with people; sleeping in a noisy hall whereby my hallmates slamming doors late at night, I thank God there is roof above my head despite the noise and dreadful smell. I solved the problem with a pair of earplugs and a mask. Anything beneath that, I pinched in to reduce the pollution without a word. Accept whatever there is. If not, find a solution - but be thankful life isn't as horrible as those living in third world country.

... there is a place to lay my head for the night even when the condition is horrible. I realised that no matter where I am and how I feel, I will still have go to sleep even when I tried to battle with various circumstances.Sleep doesn't care if you are at home or in the jungle or in prison, it comes just like that. Most people freak-out with the idea of sleeping in the dessert/ jungle or prison. As for me, I too, have similar fear, but I understood that as long as I am innocent/ harmless and be thankful that there is a place to lay my head for the night, God will protect me all throughout.

... there is clothes to wear even if it is old. Most people buy too many clothes to the point that they don't even have space for storage or even remember they have something similar to that. Some people even complained that none of their clothes seems to match their style anymore when the exact clothing trend keep making a comeback every 30 years or so... As for me, I just remain extremely grateful to have a few sensible clothing to cover my torso than a couple of banana/ palm leaf and a few coconut shells to cover our private parts.

... you have a life to live even when it doesn't go your way. Most people complain over every little thing in life whether it is about their personal feelings to their jobs and relationship. Not one of us ever remember the good things that once happened in each area of our life. Have we ever remembered how happy we once were when we had the job after facing the dreadful interviews? Only a handful does; but most don't anymore hence the complaint. Do you remember the good times when someone made you so comfortable you don't want anything else to come between you? Most people forget about it and curse their ex for all the wrongdoing forgetting the good old days... As for me: I believe that our life is to live a good one and maintain a positive effect on ourselves and be thankful to God for all the wonderful glory that He has given us. it doesn't matter who wronged me or belittled me... I have done my best at the given moment. I am not perfect and have made too many foolish mistakes to even mention it; but that doesn't stop me from wanting to improve myself for the better. To me: my life is a gift from God even when it doesn't go the way I wanted it to be. I learn to be content even at the simplest moment. I learn to surrender to Him even at the most difficult time - because my life is not my own; but God's will to direct the steps.

Be thankful....

You are so much more blessed than those who wish to have your place...

Let God direct your path…

People think that life should be according to their own plan…
They even have other people planning and forcing them to execute according to human’s steps too…
Why is it then we are bow down to human’s direction when it keeps going the wrong direction?

For me,
I leave it to God to direct me.
I listen to the voice of God and not the voice of another human.
I remember that my Heavenly Father is the one that plan my life from the end to the beginning…
All other humans are just like me….
They are like a chess piece that God moves from space to space to fulfill His work…
How can a chess piece tells another chess piece what to do when they don’t even know what is their next move? Or can they guarantee to stay alive till the very end of their goal?

But God plan everything for us; we just need to ask Him to guide us and be grateful for the wait…
Not asking another person to guide us when the other person is just as clueless with their own life and just as impatient as we are…
The more we depend on people to guide us instead of asking God to guide us,
The more we are bound to get off track…

I say….
Wait upon the Lord…
Really wait and hear from Him personally.
Most people didn’t wait for His instruction hence they jump from the pan into the fire…
And then they ask God why He throw them into the pit of fire when God do no such thing…
He has told us to wait but we disobey Him…
Most people heard Him in a very surreal way... but they choose to ignore His words…
They think God is joking because humans by nature love to prank each other uncannily.
So they think God isn’t there and they started craving their way out; only to find it spiraling downward….

As for myself, I ask that God guide me through day-to-day.
I stop making plans….
The more plans I make, the worst it becomes…
Not because I am a bad planner…
But because, it doesn’t execute the way I wanted it to be…
And every plan involved other people…and another human beings to teamwork with…
When one person wants something, the other person doesn’t want it, the plan will riot no matter how good it is…
And that’s because God didn’t agree to it to begin with…

So now I know,
Pray really deeply…. Ask faithfully and then find ways to make it real…
But never ever execute until He said so…
When one part of your plan goes wrong, be very careful to pray about it…
There is a possibility that God is telling you to wait until the right time comes…
Or to forgo the plan and do something else…
But never ever give up!
God may call you back in due time…

Remember: God is in control; not you or other human being.

Submit to Him…

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Knowing God

It’s different from knowing about Him…

It’s like…
Getting to know about a friend…
And knowing a friend…

The former sentence put you in a position whereby: the subject is just an acquaintance.
But the latter transformed the subject as your comrade.
That is two very contrasting statements…

When you know about someone,
It tells people that you only get to see them on the surface…
But insufficient to understand their history…

When you know someone (eliminate the ‘about’)
You know more than just the surface of their crazy personality,
But you also understood why they have become who they are today…
That gives you the privilege to see the truth within them….

Knowing God is the exactly the same…
You need to study the bible very thoroughly to understand why He is who He is…

Describing His personality and etc is just a starting point,
And that’s what we stated as ‘knowing about Him’
And honestly speaking,
Most of us are already there…
We know what He is like and etc...
But do we really know Him?

Some people described Him as an angry man that cast fire on the bush…
Some people said He is jealous person…
Some people said this and that…
While I cannot go against those statements because it is clearly written in the bible,
I daresay tho….
There is a valid reason behind all these…
Do you know God as you claim you do in the bible?

I dare not claim I know Him entirely – just yet….
But I knew sufficiently that knowing God is definitely an everyday process…
It’s a relationship with my Heavenly Father….
It’s just like having a relationship with another human being…
It takes time to know a person deep down inside….

And having a relationship isn’t just about describing their personalities…
But rather, connecting with them from the inside out…

I tell you what it is like to have a relationship with someone else…
I am sure you will recognised all these within your loved ones too…

Having a relationship with someone is like…
Knowing what they think before they even say it…
Feeling them even when they aren’t physically there at all…
Sharing the same thoughts and mindset even when it is supposedly a ‘coincident’…
Being able to tell when things happened to them even when it hasn’t happened just yet!

It’s the unbreakable bondage…
It doesn’t matter the distance, space and time…
You just know that the connection is there – all the way!

So it is like that with knowing God…
You can feel Him…
You know He is there even when physically He is not!
You know what He is thinking before something happen…
It certainly sounds physic but it is not…

That’s because you already have a relationship with Him…
You don’t need to describe His personality to anyone else to know about Him…
Nor do you need a book to tell you all about God…
You just need to develop and have a loving, caring, humble, kind and joyous relationship with Him to know Him…

So that's that's the great difference between know 'about' God and knowing God...

Knowing 'about' God is just a description of Him...
Knowing God is to have an intimate relationship with Him...

Humanly Love vs Godly Love

Humanly Love = selfish, full of Term & Condition and lots of expectations
Godly Love = love without any conditions, and without any expectation.

Humanly Love…
You love someone because you wanted something out of them…
You expect them to buy you a house, a car, be filthy rich and take you round the world…
But when they cannot afford to fulfill any one of those criteria(s),
You are done with loving them…
In your eyes,
Love = fulfilling your personal dreams and desire…
It’s all about you!
Never once about the person you love…
It’s a very selfish and completely self-centered!

Humanly love,
It’s all about materials….
Never once about other people’s feelings…

If you buy me a BMW,
I will love you,
If you buy me a mansion,
I will marry you…
If you intend to sleep in the tent,
You are best to sleep by yourself because I rather not be seen like a homeless shack…

Humanly Love people are the people that God will never take in kindly…
Trust me,
You will find yourself full of people who think highly of themselves and nothing about you…
Then one day when you need help…
You get no help at all because people who are full of themselves isn’t going to come down to your level and help you in any occasion…
Remember: They are only in your life when you have something to offer them and NOT vice versa…
But when you have something to offer,
They will immediately glue to you until they got exactly what they wanted and you are in for the worst!
These are the people that you want to be cautions as you don’t know what they might do to you.

Whereas Godly love is of a completely different story…

Godly love is pure and sincere…
They don’t need materials from you except that you love them completely from the inside out…

Godly love has no greed…
They don’t care if they have to sleep under the tent with you for a lifetime…
Or even living from paycheck to paycheck…
They don’t care if travel is only within local region and nowhere further than that…
To them, travel is not about the destination but the journey in itself…
Travel is with someone they loved and it’s by foot that discover hidden corners than by plane and only looking at clouds!

Godly love doesn’t ask for a house/ car/ money…
Neither do they ask if someone should change for them…
But rather they, the lover, willingly change for the love of their life…

Godly love is also uniquely spiritual...
They force you to move forward on your own...
Rather than giving you exactly want you want...

Godly love is about teaching you how to fish so that you can survive for life
Rather than giving you a fish and you only can live for a day...

Godly love is all about giving… And never once thought about receiving…
Remember: God gives His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross so that we can be saved!
By right, we should be the one that die on the cross…
By right we should be the one that take up our own punishment…
Yet, thru God’s love, we were saved by His precious Son…
He gives and gives and gives…
And we, the selfish humans, take and take and take….
Until we take God’s love for granted and forgot to show appreciation…

Godly love willing sacrifices
They don’t ask for materialism except a beautiful loving relationship…
It is such simple act that even a baby is able to manifest by themselves…
Yet as we grow up,
It became a challenge display such purity of love…

Godly love….
Doesn’t requires you to be filthy rich/ handsome/ talented/ intelligence…
It doesn’t requires you to own a house/ car/ assets…
It just needs you to love completely in return…
It just needs you to be kind, humble, gentle, and loving….
It just needs you to be happy and joyful in all circumstances…

Godly love is an amazing journey shared by everyone around them…
It is something that money cannot buy….
Because it requires you to love with your whole heart and soul…
And the love that you offers enhance the beauty to and from those around you…

That’s why humanly love and godly love is so different!
You cannot love a person completely when you only eye on their asset…
But you can love them fully if you are more than willing to go the extra miles with them…

Remember: If you intend to love because you wanted a house/ car/ money….
You will soon find yourself in trouble…
Because having a house/ car/ wealth is just temporary…
Sooner or later, you will lose out the most crucial thing in life - Pure love…
Then when you seek for help,
Those who helps you will only help within their ability…
And not within your desire…

Humanly Love = selfish, full of Term & Condition and lots of expectations, only for personal greed
Godly Love = love without any conditions, and without any expectation and purely from the heart, soul and mind… To help all those around to love others deeply...

Fight the good fight!

God's plan doesn't change...
It's the circumstances that change...

When trouble comes....
We often wonder if God is ever with us...

We feel like we have been battling with ourselves and our surrounding for life...
Even if it is just a short time...

I remember God used to tell me that I was supposed to be at some place doing something for him...
But here I am,
Struggling from thousands of miles away from the place that I am supposed to be...
And being unlike someone that God wanted me to be...

Crazy, isn't it?
It's like God suddenly change His tune without informing us...

But the truth is:
God didn't change His plan!
It is the circumstances that takes us round the bush!
In a brutal statement: Satan is at work!

Satan knows our plan just as much as God does...
He knows that we wanted to fulfill God's work...
And so he is stirring up trouble and making it difficult for us to move forward...
Most people would have given up by now....
But only the strong ones know that Satan will soon give up before them...
because God is TRUE... He will keep His Words!

As 1 Timothy 6:12 said:

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

Stand strong... Stay strong...
While everyone is being fearful,
We steadfast in prayer being faithful....

There is hope...

As the saying goes: "Every clouds has a sliver lining."

Do not be despair... If God is for US - so who can come against us?

Self-improvement jar

Similar version of a 'swear' jar. Except that you are the one paying for it instead of someone else.

Remember when you were a child and someone swear in front of you and you tell them to drop 10p into the swear jar as a reminder never to swear again?

Well, self-improvement jar works the same way except that you use it as a mean to improve yourself.

I remember when I was in my first year of university, My conversation was filled with Malaysian slangs and it got a wee bit annoyed because my friends had difficulty understanding me. I tried to improve but with lots of difficulty due to my upbringing. I seriously wanted to be better so I decided to implement the 'broken English' jar. Every time I caught myself speaking with Malaysian slang, I will have to drop 10p into the jar. The money in the jar will then goes to charity. By mid-2nd year, my jar was completely empty all throughout and I even surprised myself with proper British English.

My motto is this: "If I can do it, anybody can do it!" and the same vice versa

We just need the determination, honesty, integrity, and willingness to make it works wonders.

That's why I thought I might want to come up with variety of self-improvement jar to keep improving myself.

I know most people won't be bothered by it. In fact, they might laugh over how naive the idea is... That's fine. I am changing and improving myself - not them. I am making myself a better person - not them. They can stay behind if that's what they want - I'll just keep moving forward. After all, it is my life and my race. Nobody can run my race for me except myself. So it's best I focus on improving myself and keep running my own race. But if anybody wants to join me, I'll be happy to share my tips and tricks with you.

As a Christian, there are so many fruits of the Spirit that we need to attempt in order to be like Jesus.

Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

I possessed some of them but lack of so many others. I know it's hard to change and I really do want to change for goodness-sake.There are some part of me that, if not careful, can ruin my entire life and my relationship with people.

There are also many other characters and personality that the bible verse did not mentioned and I should head up as well; so that every single moment of my life, I can and I WILL become a better person. I do not want to wait for people to tell me things because 1) I am an adult and I should be expected to know the do's and don't's and 2) it will be extremely embarrassing if I constantly required telling off every single time.

So I came up with the idea of implementing a 'self-improvement/ Fruit of the Spirit' jar with all the characteristic of the fruit of the spirit. Every time I catch myself hating someone for whatever the reason, I will have to put in 10p into the jar. Every time I kick a fuss because I cannot get things my way, another 10p into the jar. Every time I get impatient over things, another 10p into the jar... Eventually the jar will be full and the money will go straight to charity.

By the time the amount of money in the jar dropped significantly, we know that I am improving.

To me, this is the perfect way to train oneself; because I believe that all of us have the desire to improve in every aspect possible. But self-improvement is so subjective that we cannot really see the changes in us that's why most of us gave up midway. We have nobody to tell us things/ we don't want people to know that we need to change and etc. So in order to help ourselves to get an idea of our personal development, the 'self-improvement' jar will serve as a perfect visual cue to our overall refinement.

Negative thoughts counted too. So please cease out the fear, anxiety and former negative thoughts. They should be 10p apiece too. And I am glad to say that I haven't put in a single pence yet although I will soon find myself filling it up in no time - because negative thought is my worst enemy.

Well, hopefully in a year or two, I will be a complete changed person and the jar will be empty for the rest of my life. (And yes, this is obviously going to be my lifetime jar.) I can change the jar anytime I want, but the purpose has to remain the same forever. That way I can lead a purposeful life that is completely filled with the Fruits of the Spirit.

Note: Feel free to create your own rules to live by. If you think you lie more than your liking because it has become a habit, then include that. if you think you are rude to someone because it just happened spontaneously and has become part of your natural reaction, then include it as well. Honestly, it is your choice of how and what you want to change in yourself.

As for myself: It is to completely case-out all my weaknesses and seriously develop a stringent positive traits that is to the Fruit of the Spirit because I find it rather disturbing when people avoid me without telling me why; and then later I learn that it is due to my negative traits that ruin my relationship with others. It hurts because I didn't expect to lose my friendship just like that; but there is no blaming others for my own fault. So in order to keep all my current and future relationships, it's best I do something with myself rather than expecting other people to be patient with me. Honestly speaking, even the most patient person will one day reach their wit-end. So best is NOT to get there at all! And in order not to get to their nerves, the best thing is to do something to change myself completely so that I can easily avoid unwanted trouble again; because let's say: 90% of the time, the problem did come from my side after all. So why not admit it and change it for the better?

Self-control

In all we do...
There is one fruit that represent us...
The 'doing'...
Our self-control....

Anger is dominating the world day by day...
We face angry people almost everyday in life...

People get angry for some reasons...
We may or may not know why...
But rather than allowing it to rule us...
We can do a lot better than raging in return...

We can just be in control of ourselves...

As what a good saying goes

"Self-control is the only way to survive in the world full of idiots."

Don't let anger control you, my friend...
Control anger and be nice to others...

We shouldn't let other people's foolish get into our nerves...
If we did,
We are in trouble...
Because then, we are the one out of control...

So be in control of yourself...
Tighten your self-control...

If someone accused you for something that you didn't do,
Just gently tell them the truth and walked away...
But do not even shout/ scream in defence...
Your voice/ tone/ word doesn't help you...
But rather,
Be positive and say it positively with a gentle tone...
They may not perceive you but at least, you have clear your part of...

But if you have done something wrong and someone screamed at you,
Just meekly apologised and correct it.
People who have conscious knew that you have repented will automatically stop nagging at you.
But if those nagging doesn't stop,
Remember,
It is NOT your fault...
It is the nagger's fault...
Because she was desperately looking for something to unleash her tongue...
Therefore do not worry...
One day she will get a slap on the face by someone who is much worst than herself...
Then she will learn to have self-control in all aspect...
But you do not have to respond rudely as revenge...
Just walk away and let nature take care of it for you...

Self-control....
You can do so much better just by smiling politely and swiftly walked off without much word.
You can also do a lot better with just a sense of gentleness...
So much so,
People who have sudden outburst will repent on their own shameful behaviour...
You don't have to tell them anything nor say the word...
Your action will do the job...

Be in self-control...
It worth so much the trouble...
And gain all the peace that your heart desires of a lifetime...
In fact,
It saves your life till the very end...

You are beautiful...

I woke up this morning...
And the first word that I heard out of nowhere is this...

"You are beautiful..."

No, I am all alone in the room.
I am a happy one-person room settler...
But to be told of such thing the moment I wake up is just so bizarre....

Humans aren't always good at saying "You are beautiful" to me when I woke up with a messy-bed hair and bad breath...
And I don't even bother about it at all because I knew that I don't deserve it until I get myself thoroughly clean and pretty-looking for such compliment...

But what amazed me is that...
The inner voice that said is out of nowhere just enlightened me...
I turned around searching for the source but failed..
Then it came again...

"You are beautiful just as you are..."

"It's good to be clean and nice smelling;
Adorning with skirts and tiara like a royal princess should be...
But do not think for one second that you should picture-perfect be...

Measure your heart, my dearest...
Measure your heart...
Be kind... Be gentle... Be humble... Be loving and be compassionate...
That's the key to your true beauty...

Feel free to dance and swirl in circles, my daughter...
Sing and play as you wish,
Laugh, smile and be joyful,
All to your dearest heart content...

Do that split jump that you always wanted to do,
Freely swirl in circle and allowed yourself to fall on the ground with laughter..
Grab the violin and bow a tune that you have in your head...
Or sing whatever songs you know by heart...
Or just play some snatches of music to your favourite instruments...

You are gifted from the get-go...
You are born creative...
Born to move and dance and charm the world...
Born to smile and warm the hardest heart and the coolest stare...
Born to love abundantly... So much so, there is love at your heel...

The world need more smile and laughter, my girl...
Be the world...
Be the world of such smile, laughter, joy and happiness.
Be the world of dance and music...
Be the world...
And be beautiful...

For you are beautiful - princess..."

I smiled...
Jeans and shorts...
They were once-a-upon my favourite...
And I still have it for home wear...
But now, I am looking into skirts and girly stuffs...

Shall I wear a pink skirt or the blue one? Or the peach one?
Stretching my head, I knew that whichever one I wear will be great...
Because if they don't suit me at all, they will not be in my collection...

The hair-bow...
Beautiful pink polka dots on my ponytail...
Or shall I go for blue or the purple one?
Hmmm....
What a choice!

For the first time,
I feel the true girly-girl energy soaring out of me....
And then crazily went for a wee swirl to reveal my true feminism...

But I know that the Father loves His daughter more than her clothes...
He loves her for her inner soul...
The little spirit that outreach and love others...
The girl that said, "Daddy, let's drop a couple of coins into the beggar's cup."
Or "let's feed the homeless..."
Or "let's right those wrong and be kind to others again..."

That's what our Father in Heaven wants to see from each one of us...
To be kind and compassionate to those in need....

Let's be beautiful from the inside out...

Let's see who need help...

"Hello, how may I help you?"

Just keep loving people...

You cannot love anybody if you don't love God...
You cannot be nice to people if you are wicked to yourselves...

Love people even when they despise you...
Even when they are drawing many walls between you and them...

Life is full of people with lots of hatred...
Life is full of people with lots of grand materialistic achievements but tons of negative emotions...

When you go to the hospital/ hospice,
When you sit by the bedside of someone who is about to die...
Ask them: "What do you wish your life would be?"
They will say... "If only I have more time with my loved ones..."

Life...
It's all about love and relationship....
It's all about being with people and the connection that we are so fond of...

People who are about to die...
They ask for their family members and friends...
People who are so dear to their heart...
People whom they wanted to meet and forgive with all their heart and soul...

There will never once they will ask to see their academic certificate or the material possession...

Nobody... Not the death... will ask to see their precious trophy before they take their last breath...
Instead...
They ask for their family members and friends to stay with them until the very end...

That's love...
True love...
God's love....

Yet,
While we are still living,
We collect more possession than humans' love...
We push our loved ones aside and chase for monetary....
When our loved ones ask for more spending time,
Our frequent response is: "Later...", "Not now...", "Tomorrow" and etc...
So much of all these excuses have got to stop!

I once used to said to a friend:

"What if today... Right now - will be the last time you and I speak to one another? Are you going to tell me to stick to the corner and talk to the wall?

"You don't know what is going to happen to you when you walk out of the place... You have no guarantee that when you cross the road, you will reach the other side safely. You don't know which manic driver might come and knock you off the road. That could be your last breath... and if that ever happen, will you regret not loving and spending more time with people than you would of your possession?"

Just my two pence thoughts.

Also,
When you love people,
You love them unexpectedly and unconditionally...
You love because you want to...
Because it is truly from the very bottom of your heart...

But what happened when they are your enemies?
Do you wish them death?
Do you rejoice when they are gone?
What if your hatred towards them is just you being ultra hateful?

Hateful people are people with problem...
Not the person you hate...
But it is you who are being hateful - got it?

Why choose hate when you could love more?
Why wall them out when you should be breaking barriers?

Many people have issue with their relationship because they think the other party has got a problem...
But what if I were to tell you that...
"YOU are part of  the problem...
YOU are the one that make life worst for them...
And that YOU are the one that need to love them..."

But we always deny our faults...
We keep pushing blame to others...
Just to make ourselves feel better...
When the truth is... We are more wrong than right...

You know the saying: "It takes two to tango..."
When two people are in a relationship,
It is always that two parties' fault;
But never one or the other...
In short to say: it is impossible to blame one person for two people's fault...

E.g: You cannot blame your sister for stealing your dress if you don't know how to hide them from her...
You cannot blame your mum for nagging at your messy room if you have learn to keep your space clean and tidy...

And when you play the blame game...
You also started playing the hate game...
And sooner or later...
There will be more hatred than love in your life...

Many of us love people because we want to get something out of them...
That is where danger comes in...
The truth:
You don't love them...
You are manipulating them...
There is no sincerity in you...

That's why God doesn't like the way we are...
That's why we are called 'sinners'.
We use people for the things we love...
When we are supposed to use things for the people we loves...

Like yourself and many others...

I have people drawing walls around me because they think I am overboard with my affection...
But I'll always say these...

"It doesn't matter what they think of me now - because they are still alive and well... They don't know what they lost... One day when they land on their deathbed, they will realised that they rather have people like myself to show affection to them; than those who keep sucking material possessions out of them - because I don't ask for anything in return except to love people more and more each day...

The last day will come; and when it does, I hope, it will not be too late... because I could have gone before them... For God takes those whom He loves... Those whom He rebuked and discipline. Those whom are earnest and repented... I know I am earnest and I repent every time I sin. Gasp when I made even a wee bit of mistakes in life; and running to God to ask for forgiveness. I fear of God more than any human being. Therefore I am afraid I might go before I am done loving those who needed more love than others."

So start treating people well...
They maybe your enemy on earth...
But they are also servant of God....
The children of God...
Just like you and me...

So love them as God loves you...

As 1 John 4:19 said: "We love because God first loved us."

Why I do Bible Study?

It's been a super long time since I accepted Christ as my Saviour;
And I feel like I am still lacking of something in my life...

Something very essential and crucial with my connection with Christ Jesus....
And the connection is - a pure understanding of 'Bible Study...'

As a Christian, bible study play a huge part in our faith because it is one of the strongest disciplines in Christianity. Or we can general call it 'a personal reflection/ quiet time.

The bible is a book that draw us closer to God by reading His Words and ask Him about everyday life question from a mini how-to responses to gigantic issue like relationship, family, work, life issues and etc. I personally refer the bible to my daily life 'manual book'. It is exactly like buying a product from a shop that it came with a manual book on how to use the item and how to care for it and etc. So the bible is exactly to a manual book except that we are the object and we need to constantly look into it to know how to deal with ourselves the right way.

I find that owning the bible is just a 10% of getting to know God because the truth is: anybody can own the bible. Even the non-believers might one day obtain the bible and put in their house and act like they are just as Holy as every other Christians in the world.

Reading the bible is only about 40% to connect with God. It does sounds like a pain; but the truth to be told. Those who knows how to read are mostly and generally reading it for fun. They merely treat it like a bedtime story. And while it is not wrong to read the bible and sleep on it - which is what I sometimes do myself... but that's not what a real Christian would do to complete a real bible study course.

Bible Study, on the other hand, is a whole new level of reading the bible. Every verse in it is so different from the other. You see different footnotes at the bottom - they all link to the other verses and etc. And each verse connect to your daily life. You don't just read it; you question what you read right to the core. You know the famous 'Wh-' questions that you learn in school? That's when you start using it in the bible. And that is what made it so interesting; because then everyday when you have something in your mind, you see a verse that reflects to your thoughts. Sometimes, you may find yourself looking at the same verse of the past but it, surprisingly, now refers to something else - which is your current situation and no longer the former that you once had! That's what make bible study so unique and compelling.

I used to read the bible as a way of flip pages around and then only look at it again when I go to church for services but hardly ever remember what I actually read at the end of it! It's like, God has been talking to the wall all day long even though I was actually sitting in front of Him for hours! How typical is that?

Then for quite some time, something came into my heart.... "Read the bible and really start memorising word by word of it. Pin it right into your head and actually put it into your daily life." So I did just as that.

You see, God knows my strongest point when it comes to academic success. I am excellent at memorising whatever I read to the point that I can reproduce every word perfectly! That's why memorisation is the best method for me to kick start into bible study realm. I begin memorising popular verses and then, gradually, into more personal ones.

However, memorising is just a wee bit of bible study. So the next step is to actually understand what I memorise. You see, God didn't create me to be a parrot. He did not ask me to turn myself into a copier-machine. He created me to be a unique human being that represent Him in this earthly world.

So, when I finally memorised whatever verses that deemed necessary to my condition, I am to reflect and ask myself: "What is God trying to tell me in this verse?" and etc... I have to be completely honest with it because this personal Q&A is actually to assess myself from the inside out and to make sure that I am really walking in God's light. With the Q&A, I can look into how to improve myself so that whatever mistakes that I made in past is out of the way for good.

Then the next step is application: I begin to apply God's words into my life. Whatever I have memorised including all my understanding based on the personal Q&As, I modified it to fit into my life so that I can finally represent the model image of God. Someone who is completely and faithfully follow the Lord Jesus Christ, her Saviour.

For example: Impatient-ness is my worst point in life; and this has gotten onto my nerves for a long time and gradually onto my loved ones' nerves as well. I think if there is one thing that people are completely annoyed about me is that I have very little patient and it actually drives everyone crazy! It has been so horrible to the point that it actually ruined some of my best relationship with the people that I truly care about. That's why I knew that something has to be done; and someone has got to tell me HOW to stop it! I mean, this is really crisis! If I continue to be impatient, sooner or later, I will lose all my friends and I will die of heart-attack. That is really a wake-up call! Therefore I knew that I must turn to God there and then to change my life wholeheartedly!

You see, I have been praying for years since I have become a Christian at the age of 9. But I still have no clue about how to solve my own weaknesses. And that is just so annoying because; as a Christian, we are literally an advertisement for God. We are to represent Him and to attract people to Him. That's why we are here on earth to preach the gospel. But if we keep flashing our weaknesses while trying to preach the gospel, then people are not going to like it and they will not want to have anything to do with us and so why do they want to get to know God then? And we have become a full embarrassment to His Name! God will not punish us but He will be so disappointed that we display such bad attitude! We should be connecting people to Him but now we have ruined Him because we gave people the wrong image of God hence we have ruined His Name because He is not the way we are... He is different from us. He is perfect. But He needs us to represent Him as His model image, therefore, we need to be careful to walk in His path so that people will want to be like us and they want to get to know Christ - through us!! And therefore I realised that I was really in a wrong path with all my foolish mistakes and I need to do something to correct myself. That is when I heard the voice said: "Read the bible. Memorised those verses. Pin it in your head and heart. Remember it and act accordingly. You will do good."

Now that I have been on a constant bible study mode, I find my life improved tremendously.. I didn't know how easy it was until I really do it. It is just so amazing. I have been memorising bible verses nonstop since then; and then critically question every one of them back and forth. Whenever I have problems in life, one of those relevant verses will automatically pop-out and I realised that I needed to use it as a tool to that current situation. It was just so good that I can say that my life has completely change for the better.

If anyone need help in changing their life because life is tearing them down completely; then it is high time they really start looking into studying the bible diligently like myself. I have done it and it has completely turn me around.

Please note: Bible study does not turn my situation around; but it has turned ME around; because I am the one that need to change MYSELF. You know what they say? 90% is based on your actions and reactions but 10% is based on your circumstances. So, 90% is the majority and it should easily overcome the 10% of it if you, who is the 90% of it, knows how to behave, act and react upon the situation correctly. That's why it is so important to study the bible and to diligently apply it into our life; because the bible will teach us how to behave so that we can develop the model image of God.

That's why I am now on a run with bible study and I feel so good about it. It has become my favourite past-time and the best way to get closer to God on a whole new level. In fact, it has (gradually) change myself and my life. Now, I can be sure that I am on the right track to my life destination.

My testimony: Dreamt of bible verses...

A lot of people don't like it when I mentioned about God...

But I do want to share how do I know it's Him and not anyone else...

People who read this might think I made it all up.
But if miracles had happened to you in the past,
You know the impossibility can always be possible!

I remember when I was 13,
A very dear friend of mine died of cancer...
After her passing,
I was fully remorsed over it and wouldn't want to sleep much that full year round...
My life - on the outside - looks good...
But on the inside,
It was a complete messed up!
I was in a full blown depression yet nobody knows about it...
They thought I was just deflating myself as a passage of adolescent...
But what they didn't know is that...
There is a the great sore inside my heart that kept pulling me down all the time...
And I just cannot lift it up anymore...

Then it came to the stage whereby,
I was completely insomniac.
And I begin to wonder when was the last time I had a proper full 8 hours sleep...
The last full 8 hours sleep was the final month before my friend's died...

Then it came an unforgettable night...
For some odd reasons,
I managed to get into a deep sleep...
There wasn't any changes within my surrounding or whatsoever...
The things in my room was the same as the past years...
But I had an unexpected knocked-out tho...

Then I had a dream...

In that dream,
I saw a bright golden light shining towards my face...
and then a thick book just opened itself up...
It's funny how a book can opened on its own but that's exactly how it looks like!

When I try to look closely into the wording,
The first word I saw was 'Ecclesiastes' on the heading...
When I tried to read those words on the content,
Words began to fly out of the pages....

Like Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, Exodus 14:14, Psalms 46:10, Psalms 40:1-3, Isaiah 41:10, Deut. 31:8, Hosea 13;14 and etc...

These are verses that, later on I checked out were words of comfort from the Lord..

For those of you who read the bible,
You know that all those mentioned verses are from the Old Testament.
I have no association with the Old Testament during my young Christianity life...
Until many years later when I decided to study the bible at the age of 21...

So the whole idea of having all these bible verses thrown at me in dreams were really bizarre...
One cannot made up stuff when one doesn't even know such thing exist!
And so it is the same for me...
I don't even know such verses exist in life...
Therefore I am unable to produce such comforting words to myself when I was fully in depression!
It was until I woke up and constantly asking myself:
"What does it mean?"

Then I saw my bible shining out of the bookcase next to my bed...
I got down from the bed...
Approached my bookcase...
And pulled out the bible and then...
A wind blow out of nowhere...
(I remember checking the window and it was closed! So no wind from outside!)
And the pages just flipped on its own and landed exactly on Ecclesiastes book...
Then a bright highlight shone out from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8...

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

After I finish it,
The wind blow again to another verse….
And another verses and another and another till I got so dizzy with all the page flipping…

By miracle,
I was reading those verses in a completely dark room….
But there was light constantly shining on all the verses that required me to focus on…
And the most amazing part is that…
After I finish reading,
I felt my heart lifted up…
It was such an unusual occasion for me…
Because I have been so down for a long time…
And then suddenly,
I just feel so happy again – for no particular reason…
It was the crazies moment that I have ever felt in my life…
But that’s the truest I can speak about the miracle that God has performed on me…
That for the very first time I realised it was He that comforted me…

This is one of the first few miracles that God performed on me during my awareness.
There are many more that I will share at the later post…
So,
If you really want to read more on my other miracles…
Please feel free to check it out on my next few posts - coming soon…
