“Grab the opportunities as you go…”

This was one of the best suggestions my mentor gave during our meet…

Not knowing which direction aim after completing a degree…
I feel a bit hesitant…
Many people support me to go for Masters…
But there are other subjects to aim for Masters…
I know I need a goal to aim for one path… one direction…

My mentor said,
“If you only aim for one thing…
And closes all opportunities given to you…
What happen when you grow old?
Will you regret not having a second chance of grabbing the opportunities that will enhance your life in future?”

I paused and asked,
“Then what am I supposed to do?
If there isn’t any goal ahead,
I will lose focus…
Then I won’t be able to do well for my degree…”

He looked at me thoughtfully,
“You will be able to do well in all things regardless to the circumstance…
Take one step at a time…
Don’t put your mind onto one goal and close all doors…
You will never know when you can actually shine further than your imagination!
Maybe you feel you won’t be able to do well…
But who know,
You will end up surprising yourself more than anyone else…

“I suggest that you put a shorter aim and master that;
And then slowly move to another plan for another stage…
From there, you are able to enjoy every single moment along the way…
And not blind by one result at the end of the entire process…
But to grasp the full experiences as a whole!”

I smiled and said…
“I have more plans than just studying…
Although I aim to put my study as my first priority…
But there is one thing that I will never ever forget…
I hope I can enhance it while studying…

“Oh, I know I can…
That’s what I love…
And that’s what I should do…
And that will let me look back during my old age and said…
‘University life is my most unforgettable moment because I experience all opportunities like no others!’
And that’s where I grab all the opportunities as I go…”

There goes my aim…
Let’s see if I can do it…

Give thanks…

It is a simple gesture…
It doesn’t cost you anything…
Yet gives you a very grateful feeling…

I have done it for some time since I realised the importance of giving thanks to every single thing…
Be it a plate of food,
Or a small action that case up a smile even when being hurt…

If I were to tell you where I learn it from…
Some of you may laugh…
But honestly speaking,
It teaches you a great deal of life…
I learn it from the Japanese…

Have you ever noticed how polite the Japanese are?
Despite tragedies that swept their country off, they can still display impeccable manners

Do you think you can tolerant the exact kind of pain like theirs and maintain such flawless in character?

Some of us might become worse after a certain tragedy…
Although some will be better…
Depending on the situations…

From there I learnt that…
No matter what happen…
We must continue to be grateful…

If we learn to say thank you regardless to circumstances…
It does show others our we appreciation towards them…
Even if we don’t agree to it…

Remember,
Some people might need to reverse themselves so that we can receive what we wanted…
Other times,
We need to give people a chance to get have what they want…
But either way,
We need to recognise that we are not just doing good for ourselves…
We are also doing good to others as well…

It makes me wonder why the Japanese loves to bow down and say thank you to the same thing several times?

It turns out that they are counting their blessing and being extremely grateful for what you have done for them…

It is not wrong to be thankful…
Even when someone hurt you…
Because when they hurt you,
You will understand how it likes to be hurt…
Then from thereon, you will understand what pain is like…
And hopefully avoid hurting others the way you have been hurt…

Sometimes,
I feel sad that people hurt me…
I don’t know what the reason is
I also don’t feel like asking even when I wanted to…
But I learn that no matter what their answer will be…
I will train myself to forgive them...

Forgiveness is easy said than done...
but it is much better than to remain angry and go nowhere...

“Thank you for hurting me…
Now I know how it likes to be hurt…
That kind of hurt is very painful…
And because it is so painful…
It gives me a privilege to experience it and try my very best not to hurt others…”

But I also understand that as human,
We also feel like lashing out at others when things goes wrong…
It’s very normal as we are not perfect….
Then we should find an appropriate place to calm down…
And then apologise for being so out-of-control....
Relationship will improve when we are kind enough to apologised, forgive and be thankful...

Give thanks…
It can be done at anytime and anywhere…
It doesn’t cost you a single pence…
Just your action itself can speak volume…
It doesn’t matter how big or small the situation is…
Just say thank you will give others a sense of appreciation…

Just these two words – “Thank you!” helps a lot…
Just one bow gives people a sense of gratitude…
Combine them together; you will automatically create a smile on the giver’s face…

So be thankful…
You have gotten what you want during your time…
So it’s time for you to give back a little bit of your gratitude to others…
From there you will eventually build a better relationship with them…

“Thank you!”
