Give thanks…

It is a simple gesture…
It doesn’t cost you anything…
Yet gives you a very grateful feeling…

I have done it for some time since I realised the importance of giving thanks to every single thing…
Be it a plate of food,
Or a small action that case up a smile even when being hurt…

If I were to tell you where I learn it from…
Some of you may laugh…
But honestly speaking,
It teaches you a great deal of life…
I learn it from the Japanese…

Have you ever noticed how polite the Japanese are?
Despite tragedies that swept their country off, they can still display impeccable manners

Do you think you can tolerant the exact kind of pain like theirs and maintain such flawless in character?

Some of us might become worse after a certain tragedy…
Although some will be better…
Depending on the situations…

From there I learnt that…
No matter what happen…
We must continue to be grateful…

If we learn to say thank you regardless to circumstances…
It does show others our we appreciation towards them…
Even if we don’t agree to it…

Remember,
Some people might need to reverse themselves so that we can receive what we wanted…
Other times,
We need to give people a chance to get have what they want…
But either way,
We need to recognise that we are not just doing good for ourselves…
We are also doing good to others as well…

It makes me wonder why the Japanese loves to bow down and say thank you to the same thing several times?

It turns out that they are counting their blessing and being extremely grateful for what you have done for them…

It is not wrong to be thankful…
Even when someone hurt you…
Because when they hurt you,
You will understand how it likes to be hurt…
Then from thereon, you will understand what pain is like…
And hopefully avoid hurting others the way you have been hurt…

Sometimes,
I feel sad that people hurt me…
I don’t know what the reason is
I also don’t feel like asking even when I wanted to…
But I learn that no matter what their answer will be…
I will train myself to forgive them...

Forgiveness is easy said than done...
but it is much better than to remain angry and go nowhere...

“Thank you for hurting me…
Now I know how it likes to be hurt…
That kind of hurt is very painful…
And because it is so painful…
It gives me a privilege to experience it and try my very best not to hurt others…”

But I also understand that as human,
We also feel like lashing out at others when things goes wrong…
It’s very normal as we are not perfect….
Then we should find an appropriate place to calm down…
And then apologise for being so out-of-control....
Relationship will improve when we are kind enough to apologised, forgive and be thankful...

Give thanks…
It can be done at anytime and anywhere…
It doesn’t cost you a single pence…
Just your action itself can speak volume…
It doesn’t matter how big or small the situation is…
Just say thank you will give others a sense of appreciation…

Just these two words – “Thank you!” helps a lot…
Just one bow gives people a sense of gratitude…
Combine them together; you will automatically create a smile on the giver’s face…

So be thankful…
You have gotten what you want during your time…
So it’s time for you to give back a little bit of your gratitude to others…
From there you will eventually build a better relationship with them…

“Thank you!”

Run your own race…

Our life is like a journey taking off from one of a few available tracks...
We are like an aeroplane...
Running on the track and depart in different direction...
Our end-life is our destination...
The journey where our aeroplane go thru is the very path for us...
No two aeroplanes can fly in the exact angle simultaneously...
Although they may land in the same location...

Credit to one of my former lecturers. He was the one that advise me on this...

I remember an incident,
Whereby I did poorly for one of the subjects I took during a semester…
I was pouting at the corner of the classroom…
Unable to face one of my lecturer when he expected me to get good marks for that particular subject…

He saw me and came over…
Upon looking at my sad face,
He said,
“You worry too much.”

I looked at him and said,
“Why can’t I do well just like everyone else?
I have been working hard on it but I just cannot get to where I want to be…
Why can’t I be as good or even better than my classmates?
Am I ultimately useless?”

My lecturer looked at me with gentleness…
“Why are you comparing yourself with others?
How can you run someone else’s race?
Do you know how much people have done in order to get to where they are today?”

“I am sure someone else is thinking the same thing of you…
Despite some of your weaknesses…
You have an amazing gift that others envy of you…
People are jealous of your showmanship…
Because they cannot perform like you…
They cannot charm the audiences the way you do…
But only you know how much effort you have inserted in order to get to where you are today.
Nobody can run your race except you….
So, shouldn’t others be jealous of you as much as you do to them?”

I looked at him and think carefully…
“It’s true….
I know of my musical friends whom admit that they wish they have my gift…
And honestly to say…
I don’t even know what I have done to be so outstanding on-stage…
I just know that I need to do what I thought is right…
As long as I don’t act like a fool…
That’s it…”

My lecturer nodded his head and continued…
“Everybody has different strength…
Some are good one area…
While others are more other form…”

“As for you…
I can see your strength in performing…
If I were to compare your friends to you and to treat you the same as I would of them…
Then I am not being fair to either of you…
For each of you are special in your own ways…”

Looking back at this situation,
I learn something very useful in here…

Back then,
I used to compare with others…
When I see someone having better marks than me,
I wondered why I didn’t get just the same mark as them…
When I see someone doing well…
I wonder why I am not doing well too…
I keep on and on comparing until my heartache…
Part of me wanted to give up…
So that I can stop comparing for once…

My lecturer read my mind and said,
“Don’t compare yourself with others…
Because you don’t know how much effort they have put in…
Compare yourself with yourself…
See what you have done in the past…
And improve from there…”

“Because as I said earlier…
‘Nobody can run your race…’
Only you can take up your own challenge…
And nobody can run your friends’ race except themselves…
Because nobody knows how much they can exert…
And what are their limitations….
If you were to put yourself onto their race track,
You will definitely lose…
Because there are lots of obstacles that you are not made to go thru it…
But it is only for them to fight the battle by themselves...”

It was at that moment that I finally understood him…

Human nature loves to compare with others…
When they see someone else better than them…
They will keep comparing non-stop…
They forget that everybody has different strength…
They thought that what other people can do…
They also must be able to do it…
And that is not true…
Because we are made differently from everyone else…
So that we all can do different things and fulfil God’s plan…

It’s true that you may be able to do what others do…
But then, you will find that there will be a huge setback on your behalf...
You will struggle to the point of frustration…
While others will just scoot off within a finger-snap.

Some people had it easy…
As if they were born for it…
While others struggle to get it right…

Have you been thru that?

I am sure you do…

We have the good and the bad…
And all of us are different…
That is why we cannot always compare ourselves to others…

People can only admire or even envy with what we have…
But they don’t know what we have to go thru to be who we are today…
Because they are not made to go thru our obstacles…
They don’t have our elements to break our life hindrances…
So it is the same vice versa…

Therefore,
We should not compare ourselves to others anymore…
Because we can never go thru what they have been thru…
It is better to compare ourselves with our past…
Then only we can improve for the better…

Have your own unique goal,
Something that only you can do it…
Focus on your aspect…
Go thru your own force and flaw…
And finish the race with pride…
